A recent report released by Freedonia Focus Reports, forecasts that US commercial printing revenues will decline slightly, to $74.0 billion in 2021, from $74.5 billion in 2016.
On the other hand, revenues from labels and wrappers markets will undergo strong growth. This growth will be driven mainly by increasing demand for variable-data and short-run packaging. Manufacturers all over the world are trending toward customized and premium labels and wrappers to enhance product differentiation.
Also, surprisingly enough, digital printing revenues are expected to climb 2.8% per year through 2021. The compatibility of digital presses with shorter product runs and mass customization will drive advances.
So, not only will the digital printing revenues not hurt, it is expected to grow in the next few years. If you are thinking about installing new equipment, like a web-to-print system, this forecast should encourage you to do it soon.
