The recent Earth Day a few weeks ago was a good reminder to practice environmentally friendly techniques, and keep our planet green, clean and healthy. So, what practices can you use to contribute to a green environment?
Recycle
You know that paper is recyclable, right? But did you know it can be recycled up to 7 times before it can no longer be used? Over 80% of all recycled paper is used in tissues, packages, and container boards.
Use soy-based inks
Soy ink, as the name suggests, is a type of ink made from soybeans. Unlike traditional petroleum-based ink, soy-based ink is a lot more environmentally friendly, it provides more accurate colors, a sharper and brighter image, and even makes paper recycling much easier.
Minimize your carbon footprint
A carbon footprint is the total amount of greenhouse gases produced from various human activities, usually expressed in equivalent tons of carbon dioxide (CO2). Basically, you produce CO2 when driving your car, or even when heating your home or office.
You can reduce your carbon footprint by finding alternatives to driving (bicycle, walking, and even public transportation), make energy efficiency a primary consideration when buying new appliances, add solar panels, and turn off lights you’re not using and when you leave the room.
Choose digital printing over traditional offset methods
With digital printing, you are able to print exact quantities (even just 1 copy of a certain project), something that offset printing methods simply cannot offer you. Using advanced techniques such as online printing, you can login from anywhere and order 1 or 2 copies of your catalog for instance, or print 10 more wedding invitations that you forgot to deliver.
Print on both sides of the paper whenever possible
Especially when printing a student essay or an employee tutorial, remember to print on both sides. It eliminates waste tremendously.
Remember, no matter what industry you are in or the size of your organization, you should do your part for the planet. Each and every one of us can make a small change that will ultimately make the world cleaner and healthier. All it takes is minor alterations to make a big difference.
